P+: Project-orientierted Physics Lab
P+ is a project-oriented physics lab for motivated and interested students, in which they plan, carry out and evaluate their own physics experiments. Exploratory learning in small groups promotes additional skills in the areas of interdisciplinary thinking, project management, teamwork and critical evaluation of one's own projects. P+ stands for Project-oriented Physics Lab for Undergraduate Students.
What does it mean?
- In P+, you will carry out six experiments in groups of six, which you are largely free to design yourself. You will be assigned a highly motivated HTA (former P+ alumnus) who will accompany you and your group throughout the semester. In addition, an experienced assistant will supervise several groups at the same time.
- A collection of experiment ideas is available to you, and you can also expand or modify existing experiments. You have a workshop at your disposal, can use materials and equipment from the existing stock, and smaller items can be procured or manufactured.
- You have two weeks for each experiment. In the first week, you discuss your ideas in your group and together with your TA. Then you prepare the physical basics and plan the setups and measurements. In the second week, you carry out the experiment. You will find that developing, solving problems and answering your own questions together has a very high learning effect and is also a lot of fun!
